Hi, I’m Kandy Trejo.
This isn’t just a business for me—it’s a reflection of what I believe in.
I spent my graduate years working in shelters for survivors of sexual assault, domestic violence and complex traumas, substance abuse rehab facilities, and mental health counseling and wellness centers.
My passion for healthy mental health care runs deep and is strongly driven by my desire to support others in achieving emotional well-being and breaking the stigma around mental health. All I want is the best for everyone, because YOU deserve it!
When I was a child my two sisters were in a tragic accident at their babysitter’s house. A gas company working outside of the house hit a gas line, and shortly after the house exploded. Tragically, the babysitter , also known to them as “Mawmaw”, did not make it. My sisters and the other children there barely made it out alive.
The road to recovery ahead of them would not be easy, with third degree burns over 75% of their bodies, the healing process almost seemed impossible—the pain they experienced on a daily basis, the wound care and cleanings, procedure after procedure to try and correct what the fire had taken from them. I’ve seen first hand how difficult it is to find normalcy and acceptance with life after such a devastating injury. Recovering from a severe burn injury is a deeply personal journey, no two experiences are the same.
Burn trauma can impact far more than the body—it can affect identity, relationships, emotional well-being, and how you move through the world. My role is to offer a safe, compassionate space where healing can happen at your pace. I work collaboratively with clients to address challenges, such as trauma, anxiety , depression, grief, body image concerns, and life changes following a burn injury.
Using client-centered evidence-based, trauma-informed and strength-based modalities/approaches, I help clients reconnect with themselves , build resilience, and regain a sense of control and confidence. Therapy focuses on rebuilding emotional safety, navigating changes in identity and relationships, and strengthening coping skills. Together we will work toward healing, self-compassion, and a renewed sense of confidence as you move forward.
In addition to my speciality of survivors of severe burn injuries, I also specialize in cases of complex traumas, such as survivors of sexual assault, survivors of domestic violence, incest, family violence, and victims of crimes.
You don’t have to go through this alone. I look forward to working with you!
